The Rookie Season Six: Cast of 2024, Plot Details
After facing delays due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the eagerly awaited return of the show is on the horizon, promising answers to the suspenseful cliffhanger of season five’s finale. Here’s what we know about the upcoming episodes.
The sixth season of The Rookie is set to debut on Tuesday, February 20, at 9pm ET on ABC and Hulu in the US. Although a release date for the UK is still pending, it’s anticipated that the new episodes will be available on Sky Witness later on.
Details about the season’s plot have been sparse, with ABC’s synopsis offering a hint: “Following the attacks in the thrilling season five finale, the team is left to decipher the reasons behind their targeting and the possibility of a larger scheme.”
The season five finale left viewers with unresolved questions, particularly regarding the destiny of Aaron Thorsen (portrayed by Tru Valentino), who was critically injured by unidentified gunmen. Having ended season five with Aaron in a critical condition, season six is expected to resolve the suspense surrounding his survival.
The upcoming episodes are also set to introduce a new antagonist. The previous season concluded with the revelation that Luke Moran was behind the mercenary attack on the Mid-Wilshire Division, with motives that remained murky. A scene featuring a mysterious character, played by Kristian Bruun, suggested he was the architect of the assault, hinting at further developments in the new season.
Season six will see the return of familiar faces, including Nathan Fillion as LAPD officer John Nolan, along with Melissa O’Neil as Lucy Chen, Alyssa Diaz as Angela Lopez, Eric Winter as Tim Bradford, Richard T Jones as Wade Grey, Mekia Cox as Nyla Harper, Jenna Dewan as Bailey Nune, and Shawn Ashmore as Wesley Evers.
Additionally, Lisseth Chavez, who portrays Celina Juarez, has been elevated to a series regular, promising more screen time for her character in the new season.
