John and Bailey’s Big Day: Inside The Rookie’s Heartfelt Wedding Ceremony
John Nolan (Nathan Fillion) survived the notorious last shift curse before his wedding in “The Rookie,” yet misfortune seemed to tail him and Bailey Nune (Jenna Dewan) into the next day. They were in the midst of relocating their home wedding to a spiritual center due to noisy bulldozers at a neighboring demolition site. The center, owned by Aaron Thorsen’s (Tru Valentino) family, promised serenity but demanded an upscale makeover that their overwhelmed wedding planner couldn’t handle amid personal turmoil.
Complications multiplied: their DJ was arrested by John for drug dealing, their wedding cake arrived early and in the wrong flavor, leading to a makeshift cake baking bridal shower, and friends rallied to arrange flowers after a mix-up with the florist. The string of mishaps didn’t end there. John’s son, Henry (Zayne Emory), faced a canceled flight, and Pete (Pete Davidson), John’s half-brother, couldn’t attend due to legal troubles, sending Randy (Flula Borg) in his stead—who then lost Bailey’s wedding ring to a man known as The Hammer. Retrieving the ring involved Lucy Chen (Melissa O’Neil) and Tim Bradford (Eric Winter) in a peculiar negotiation.
To top it off, John was embroiled in a legal suit by Oscar Hutchinson (Matthew Glave), further complicated by a change in attorneys to the formidable Monica (Bridget Regan), causing additional stress on the wedding day.
Despite the chaos, the wedding vows were a moment of pure romance. Bailey expressed her unequivocal certainty and love for John, emphasizing the simplicity and depth of her feelings. John humorously reminisced about their first meeting, affirming his admiration and love for Bailey, and vowing to prioritize her happiness always.
The celebration was briefly interrupted when Celina Juarez (Lisseth Chavez) was kidnapped, pulling the police officers away from the festivities. After a successful rescue, John and Bailey were finally alone, with just hours before their honeymoon departure, marking the end of a tumultuous yet memorable wedding day.
