Argyle The Pizza Guy Won’t Be Back For Stranger Things Season 5

The upcoming final season of “Stranger Things” will be missing a familiar face, as Eduardo Franco recently revealed in an interview with “The Steve Varley Show” (reported by ScreenRant) that his character, the laid-back stoner Argyle, will not return for season 5. “I never received a call, so yeah, I guess that’s the end of the road for me,” Franco explained when Varley brought up fans noticing his absence from the initial season 5 cast photo.

With production already underway, it appears unlikely that creators Matt and Ross Duffer have plans to reintroduce Franco’s character later in the season, marking Argyle’s absence in the series’ concluding chapters.

The decision to streamline the cast isn’t entirely unexpected, especially after season 4 faced criticism for its expansive narrative and large ensemble. However, Franco’s Argyle, the hippie pizza delivery guy, was among the more memorable new faces, bringing a welcome dose of humor and light-heartedness to the show.

Personally, I would have preferred to see his character’s antics over additional storylines involving Brett Gelman’s irritating Murray, a mysterious new government operative, or extended flashback sequences. Although Argyle was a relatively recent addition with fewer ties to the main storyline, his persona would have seamlessly blended into a college setting, should the series choose to explore that avenue.

Franco expressed appreciation for the fan concern over his character’s departure, stating, “It’s nice to know people care, you know?” While Argyle might not have reached the same level of fan adoration as season 4’s Eddie Munson (portrayed by Joseph Quinn), he certainly won a spot in many viewers’ hearts with his charisma and humor.

Before his stint on “Stranger Things,” Franco had notable roles in comedies such as “The Package” and “Booksmart,” as well as appearances on shows like “You’re the Worst,” “Lady Dynamite,” and “Tacoma FD.” Known for his comedic talent, there’s no doubt Franco will soon grace audiences with his presence in new and exciting projects.
