Exploring the World of Nick Wolfhard: Beyond Being Finn Wolfhard’s Brother
Finn Wolfhard’s talent isn’t the only one lighting up Netflix screens in his household. He’s the younger sibling of Nick Wolfhard, who has carved out his niche as an accomplished voice actor. Nick is perhaps most notably recognized for his leading role in the animated Netflix series “The Last Kids on Earth.” The Wolfhard brothers, sons of Eric Wolfhard and Mary Jolivet, spent their childhood in Vancouver, Canada.
Despite a five-year age gap, with Nick born in 1997 and Finn in 2002, both brothers share a deep enthusiasm for the world of entertainment. Throughout Finn’s blossoming career, Nick has been a pillar of support, encouraging him to persevere in pursuit of his ambitions, especially during challenging periods.
“There was a period in time where my brother Finn was doing It and [the film], at the time, fell through,” Nick told Showbiz Cheat Sheet, referencing director Cary Fuukunaga’s exit from the film. “He was so bummed about it and he didn’t want to do acting again … My dad [and I] were like, ‘No, you’ve got to keep going. Why don’t you just take a small break and then we’ll see what happens.’ ”
“I guess through my mighty words of wisdom, he got Stranger Things because he kept going and he eventually got It back,” he added. Here’s everything to know about Finn Wolfhard’s brother, Nick Wolfhard.
Finn and Nick Wolfhard were raised in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, the sons of Eric Wolfhard and Mary Jolivet. Their father, Eric, practices law and specializes in aboriginal land claims research. From an early age, Finn credits his accomplishments in the entertainment sector to the unwavering support and encouragement he received from his family.
“I have great parents, a great family, and people who support me, but who also keep me in line,” Finn said in an Interview magazine profile with Ryan Reynolds. “I have been weirdly disciplined since I was seven or eight years old.”
Nick Wolfhard stands out with his voice acting skills, distinguishing him from his brother, the “Stranger Things” star. He embarked on his voice acting journey at the age of 16, lending his voice to a character in Cartoon Network’s animated film “Underwraps.” While his first significant role in animation came during his mid-teens, Nick had always been passionate about pursuing a career in voice acting.
“I’ve always had a big fascination with animation in general — you can tell stories and do things that are impossible to convey in a live action project,” Nick once told PopHorror. “There is something about voice over that is just so fun to do, to watch all these things as a kid and then to star in them later on is a dream come true.”
“The audition process was the longest I’ve ever had for a part,” he said. “I originally auditioned for Jack as well as Dirk. I believe I got two separate call backs for both characters. Then, I remember, in May, I was half asleep in my bed, and I got the email. I was like, ‘Yes!’ “
Though the process was long, it was incredibly rewarding for Nick. “I put my fist in the air out of sheer victory, because of how long the process was and how much effort I put into it,” he said. “I was so happy I got it.”
