IMDb’s Rankings: The Worst Episode of ‘NCIS’
On IMDb, two episodes of “NCIS” are currently tied for the title of lowest-rated episode. “Gut Punch” from Season 18 and “First Steps” from Season 19 both hold a rating of 6.9 out of 10, as judged by IMDb users. Although “Gut Punch” technically takes the spot for the lowest-rated episode due to having a larger number of ratings, the consensus is clear: these episodes are viewed by many as the weakest links in the “NCIS” series.
However, opinions on the worst “NCIS” episode vary across different corners of the Internet.
“NCIS” boasts a dedicated fan base on Reddit, where followers of the show gather to discuss its plot, characters, and much more. This vibrant community has sparked numerous discussions over the years about the series’ less impressive episodes, drawing a wide array of opinions that often diverge from those found on IMDb.
For instance, a Reddit thread started by u/RayKVega highlighted several episodes not mentioned on IMDb’s lowest-rated list. Among these, Season 5’s “Dog Tags” sparked significant debate. The episode, which features Tim McGee (Sean Murray) being attacked by a dog, only to have Abby Sciuto (Pauley Perrette) show more concern for the animal than for McGee, struck many fans as inconsistent with Abby’s character.
Despite her well-known love for animals, her exaggerated concern for the dog seemed over the top to some viewers. Additionally, “Out of the Frying Pan” from Season 8, where Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll) uses an axe to intimidate a child during an interrogation, and Season 18’s “Misconduct” also stirred discussions among fans.
While “NCIS” has many aspects that fans adore, it’s clear that not every episode is a hit. Conversations about the show’s less stellar episodes are bound to continue as long as the fan community remains active and engaged.
