Linda Hamilton Says She ‘Won’t Be Watching’ ‘Stranger Things’
As Linda Hamilton gears up to dive into the eerie world of Hawkins, Indiana, possibly with Kate Bush’s “Running Up That Hill” setting the mood on her Walkman, she’s taking a unique stance on “Stranger Things” Season 5. Despite her enthusiasm for the show’s 80s vibe and “Dungeons and Dragons” flair, Hamilton plans to skip watching the final season, a decision rooted in her own involvement with the Netflix hit.
In a conversation with Us Weekly!, Hamilton expressed her deep appreciation for the series, noting how joining the cast for its concluding season has paradoxically diminished her ability to enjoy it as a viewer.
“When you buy into something, you don’t see yourself in it. So, I think it ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project] once I’m in something,” Hamilton explained. “It would completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So, I won’t be watching [Season 5].”
Hamilton is one of the select new faces to be introduced in the show’s climactic season. Yet, details about her character remain a closely guarded secret, with creators Ross and Matt Duffer only offering her a glimpse into her character’s essence without unveiling the full narrative arc.
Hamilton shared her respect for the Duffers’ guarded approach to storytelling, acknowledging the discipline required to stay in the dark: “They have to be very careful with their story,” Hamilton added. “So I still don’t know how it ends. It takes a lot of discipline not to know where it will go, but that’s to protect it from all of the people that want to know.”
Meanwhile, Gaten Matarazzo, who brings to life the beloved character Dustin Henderson, shared his thoughts at MegaCon Orlando (as reported by CBR) on potential changes to the series. Matarazzo candidly suggested that increasing the body count could raise the stakes, saying, “It might sound harsh, but we should have taken more risks. The show would gain a lot if it felt like any character could be next. Right now, it feels like we’re all in a safe bubble.”
With production for the season well underway, fans are eagerly awaiting any news on when they can expect the grand finale to drop on Netflix.
