Heroic Dog Saves Baby Girl’s Life After She Stops Breathing at Night

Having a dog in the house is truly a blessing: they are not only loving and loyal companions but can also save your life. We’ve heard countless stories of dogs stepping up to protect their owners or alert them to danger.

Recently, one woman hailed her dog as a hero after he helped save her baby’s life by alerting the parents when the child stopped breathing.

Kelly Andrew, from Boston, Massachusetts, owns a Boston terrier named Henry. One night, Henry began acting strangely, repeatedly breaking into the nursery and waking Kelly’s baby.

Kelly admitted she was getting “fed up” with Henry’s disruptive behavior, especially since her baby had been sick. However, she soon realized the seriousness of the situation: her baby wasn’t breathing.

They rushed their daughter to the hospital, and it dawned on Kelly that Henry wasn’t causing trouble but trying to save her baby’s life.

Miraculously, Henry sensed something was wrong. By keeping the baby awake and alerting the parents, Henry likely saved her life, allowing her to receive medical attention just in time.

“I don’t know what would have happened if he hadn’t woken her,” Kelly wrote on Twitter. “We don’t deserve dogs.”

The baby spent the night at the hospital and is now “doing much better,” Kelly reported.

Kelly also noted that her brave dog Henry “held the fort all night even though he is scared of the dark.”

She expressed her gratitude to the ER department at Connecticut Children’s Hospital, calling them “literal heroes” for their help.

Henry, however, received much of the spotlight as the story went viral. People were astounded by his instincts, and many shared their own similar stories, highlighting how dogs can be life-savers, even when their behavior seems problematic.

“We couldn’t figure out for the longest time why my service dog kept going into my parents’ room several times a night sniffing my dad’s face and nudging him repeatedly,” one woman replied. “They always pushed her away, but she kept coming back. She stopped as soon as he got his pacemaker.”

“I’m chronically ill. There have been many times I’ve gone to the hospital because one of my dogs started sniffing and paying attention to a specific body part, alerting me that something was wrong,” another person wrote. “Dogs are heroes!”

We’re incredibly relieved that this baby is now safe, thanks to the quick actions of this heroic dog. Good boy, Henry!
