Cold and Alone, a Dog’s Tail Wags for the First Time in Days
A stray dog seeking warmth found temporary refuge on a porch during a bitter cold spell. With days of below-freezing temperatures ahead, her survival was uncertain. Luckily, the compassionate homeowner noticed the dog curled up outside and called Stray Rescue of St. Louis for help.
When Donna Lochmann, Chief Life Saving Officer, arrived, the white pit bull mix, now named Comfy Cozy, didn’t move or react. She stayed curled up in a ball, seemingly unsure of what to expect. Donna gently spoke to her, and with a wag of her tail, Comfy Cozy slowly raised her head, as if realizing someone was there to help.
Donna later shared, “She had no idea anyone would care enough to rescue her. Her confusion said it all: ‘You’re here…for me?’ Yes, we are here for you. You matter, you are beautiful, and you deserve a loving home.”
Once safely in the warmth of Donna’s car, Comfy Cozy leaned in for cuddles, soaking up the care she had long missed.
At the shelter, Comfy Cozy was examined and found to be underweight but full of love. The team is now searching for a family or foster to give her the life she deserves. To help her find a home, they recently held a photoshoot, showing off her adorable ears and loving personality.
